Close Brothers Motor Finance renews partnership with MotorEasy to help customers protect against vehicle depreciation
Customer-focused product safeguards motorists from financial loss following a vehicle write-off or theft
Posted on Aug 04, 2026
Close Brothers Motor Finance (CBMF) has joined forces with car ownership solutions company MotorEasy to provide Return to Invoice (RTI) GAP Insurance to eligible motor finance customers, helping to protect them from financial shortfalls following vehicle theft or a write-off.
Close Brothers Motor Finance first collaborated with MotorEasy in 2022, when it added RTI GAP Insurance to its customer proposition until an industrywide FCA investigation paused sales. The renewal of this partnership not only brings to market an improved RTI GAP Insurance offering but will see Close Brothers Motor Finance strengthen its portfolio with MotorEasy’s other value-add solutions as the partnership grows.
RTI GAP Insurance helps bridge the difference between a motor insurer's settlement value and the original invoice price paid for a vehicle. In the event of a write-off or theft, the cover helps safeguard customers against the financial impact of depreciation, helping to ensure they are not left out of pocket or left repaying finance on a vehicle they no longer own.
The product is built into the existing customer journey. Following a short period after purchasing their vehicle, customers receive information about RTI GAP Insurance as part of their finance welcome pack, followed by email communications and support from MotorEasy's UK-based Contact Centre team. The approach prioritises informed decision-making over a transactional sales process, giving motorists clear information to decide whether RTI GAP Insurance is right for them.
Alex Griffin, Director of Product at Close Brothers Motor Finance, explains: "Our objective was to give customers access to clear, relevant information about a product that can help protect them financially if their vehicle is written off or stolen. We wanted a partner with the technology, expertise and automotive experience to deliver that at the right stage of the customer journey.
"MotorEasy demonstrated a strong understanding of our customers' needs, alongside a proven ability to engage them effectively through digital channels. Together, we've developed a product that helps customers make informed decisions about RTI GAP Insurance, giving them the information and support they need to decide whether it's right for their individual circumstances."
Duncan McClure Fisher, CEO of Intelligent Motoring, MotorEasy’s parent company added: "RTI GAP Insurance remains one of the most valuable protection products available to motorists, yet many remain unaware of the depreciation risks that follow a write-off or theft. Close Brothers Motor Finance wanted a solution focused on customer education and long-term engagement, and that's exactly what we've built together, helping customers make better-informed decisions throughout the customer journey.
"Our Digital Garage platform, customer data capabilities and CRM-led engagement strategy enable us to have highly relevant conversations with customers at the right time and through the right channels. This helps ensure customers receive useful information that supports better ownership outcomes while delivering strong commercial performance for our partners."
MotorEasy offers a broad range of partnership models, including quote and buy APIs, white-label solutions and CRM-led customer engagement products. Its suite of vehicle protection, maintenance and ownership products supports partners across the automotive, finance and insurance sectors, helping them improve customer retention, engagement and lifetime value.
The partnership further strengthens Intelligent Motoring's position as a leading provider of customer engagement and vehicle protection solutions for the automotive finance sector.
